Category: Carpet & Carpet Fitters

when estimating for carpet draw a bird’s eye view plan of all the rooms and stairs you want to carpet, make sure you draw all the rooms stairs and hallways to relation to where they actually are this will make it much easier to know which way the carpet will go if you have more than one level sketch the floor in relation to where the stairs are because all your rooms and hallways must go the same way as all of the stairs this only applies to patterned material now you have your layout start to take all the measurements, remember when measuring check that you have allowed for all the widest points. Have an idea of which way the carpet or flooring will run and where you may have to put joins, if joins are necessary to plan them to go in parts of the room where there is not much traffic, avoid putting them bang in the middle of a doorway. Always make sure all your carpet goes the same way especially if it has a pattern. make sure you are very careful when calculating out how much carpet you will need if unsure call a carpet fitter as this will save you money. Now you have your layout star to write down what sizes of material you will need do not order by square meter this never works always order by lengths you should by now know the width of your carpet take this into account
